About us
Cassero LGBTQIA+ Center is a political NGO based in Bologna (Italy) that has been fighting for the recognition of LGBTQIA+ people’s rights for over 40 years. Born in 1982, Cassero is a multifaceted space that combines culture, activism, socialization, education and clubbing. It is also an anti-discrimination center dedicated to the well-being and protection of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Cassero is part of the local network of LGBTQIA+ and transfeminist associations and collectives that organize the yearly Pride march. It is also part of the national network of Arcigay and of the international networks of ILGA and IGLYO. Global Cassero is a group of volunteers that interacts with European and non-European organizations in the creation and development of projects such as youth exchanges, training courses and non-formal educational programs.
Both at an international and local level, the group is committed to coordinate social and cultural territorial events to promote queer and transfeminist values and knowledge through an intersectional perspective with the aim of strengthening a sense of community beyond national borders.
